Any time I've seen the term normie, the person using it has either been a white supremacist or a bestialist. I'll assume your neither of those things. But for curiosity's sake, what makes you different from "normies"?

Yeah Spider-Man is very strong and has amazing feats in the comics. Not to mention his Spider-sense. And yet still gets blindsided and has trouble with common criminals in the comics. Bad writing? Sure but it is what it is.

This is true of every character, really. I'll bet more than 70% of heroes are only in danger because they forget they have gamebreaking abilities. Even Batman, who has mastered every form of martial arts to an impossible degree, still finds himself occasionally trading punches with random hoodlum henchmen who shouldn't be able to lay a finger on him.

The appeal of action is the sense of danger, so why do so many writers try to make their characters invincible?

Wolverine can survive a nuclear bomb blast.
Magneto can rip iron from the body and kill with a thought.
Superman is functioning at 15% power level a la Dragon Ball Z.
Spider-Man fakes being in danger and is actually stronger than his rogues.

Do they do it as some kind of "my fictional character is technically a lot stronger than your fictional character" bullshit? Or is it a Steven Seagal thing where there's a niche audience that likes boring invincible protagonists? And some of those people just happen to be the comic writers.

The cool thing about Spider-Man is that he is so down to Earth. Making him invincible or having him pull his punches defeats the purpose of him being the underdog. Beyond the "great power" quote, this is what defines Spider-Man as a hero:

https://imgur.com/SASUKMQ

(He was secretly just holding back his strength.)

Spiderman is almost as strong as the Hulk

Its canon that he severely pulls his punches like Superman and even said the reason his head moves when thugs hit him in the face is so they don't shatter their hands

That is some absolute writer's bullshit.

The second movie is okay. It lacks comedy, but it has more ghosts than the first movie.

The third film is just spiteful. It could've coincided with the original mythology. They could've made the lead Egon's daughter and had her assemble a new team. But instead they decided to make it a reboot and go on a vicious campaign accusing anyone unhappy with the decision of being sexist.

I don't care if it's okay. The first movie was a lot better than just okay. And fans had legitimately been waiting out the better part of three decades hoping for a third entry in the series. Well, for better or worse, we're gonna step right over that remake as if it never happened and get that second sequel.

Yeah, it's pretty transparent. She was gorgeous with her hair long. Then she cuts it short so that she looks like a talk show host with attitude and wins out over an 11 out of 10 Latina. This is disappointing.

I understand that conservative mom types would be the ones most likely to watch heartwarming films about attractive white heterosexual couples in their late 30s and early 40s, but it's disgusting to think that homophobia still has a hold on anything. I thought this battle had been one long ago. But then again, we have stuff like movies taking away gay character reveals because the Chinese government doesn't like it.

Hallmark should not have pulled the ad. If there's controversy to be had from it, let them be on the winning side. Let them take a stand for equality and inclusive love.

A few days ago, they were announcing that they were going to explore gay romance. Now they're pulling an ad because a heterosexist group dislikes it? I hope the screenwriter for that unmade love story was paid in advance.

This is bullshit.

What? It's the perfect approach for a Batman movie.

It sounds like something that would be a Batman Animated Series episode.

It would make a good episode of Batman, The Animated Series. But you didn't have to pay to see BTAS in its first run.

Knowing who the villain is in a superhero movie is like knowing the opponent in a boxing match or a UFC fight. The marquee reads Superman vs. General Zod, you're gonna see Superman against Zod. The marquee reads Spider-Man vs. Dr. Octopus, it's Spidey against Doc Ock.

But this is like advertising "Batman versus mystery opponent" or "Batman versus opponent to be determined." I'm sitting here in a $17 seat with a $6 cup of Coca-Cola in my hand ready to see Batman take on the Penguin and it's actually the Riddler who's behind it all. The ringer might be okay if I knew who he was, but the film intentionally downplayed the Riddler so that it would come as a surprise when he was outed as the culprit.

It's an ambitious new approach, and I'll give them credit for that, but most twist revelations are dull for that very reason described. It's always the quiet butler or the friendly old man; the last character you'd suspect. Hell, it might even be Clock King just because nobody would guess that a dark horse like him would make it into a live action Batman movie.

A solo Jasmine spinoff is a bit of a liability since she's a British woman playing an Arab princess. Since her love interest was an Arab, nobody complained. But if it's just her by herself, then all you're left with is a white woman playing an Arab woman. And that could be a headache for Disney.

The absolute last thing Disney needs is more white princes.

Seriously, the worship of royalty is outdated. It's sad to see people in the US glued to magazines focusing on the royal British family and their wives. Like, isn't the whole reason this country exists because we were over dealing with royalty? Why have we worshiped it from afar ever since?

Second, name one Disney prince who isn't white. Even Naveen, the African prince from The Princess and the Frog, is biracial with one white parent. In the Walt Disney World parade float, his actor is white. If we're going to continue to promote royalty, can't we have some royalty from other ethnic backgrounds?
